SUMMARY:Holiday Light Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce will host the 36th Annual Holiday Light Parade on December 6\, 2025.It is traditionally held on the first Saturday in December each year. The parade begins at 6:00 PM.The line-up will begin at 4:30 PM at the UMPI campus. The parade will continue down Main Street\, ending at the far entrance of the North Street Plaza.The Chamber will uphold tradition and have the only Santa Claus on their float.Please note; that any extra Santa’s will disqualify your entry.Absolutely no candy throwing.Categories for judging include:Parade ChampionBest BusinessBest Non-ProfitBest General FloatBest Youth FloatPlease display a sign that clearly and boldly states the name of your business\, organization\, or club on the DRIVER’S SIDE of your float.Judging will take place as you pass the Reviewing Stand on Main Street. You must register for your float to be judged.We are encouraging participants to add music to their floats for more festive fun.We also ask that participants turn off their headlights during the parade\, please.It is not necessary to have your entry completely planned before registering with the Chamber.Just inform us of your decision to enter so we may compile the Line-up.There is no fee to enter.

DESCRIPTION:The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host digital artist Sarah Sweeney as its next speaker in the Libra Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday\, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room and via Zoom. Sweeney\, the Ella Van Dyke Tuthill ’32 Chair in Studio Art at Skidmore College\, will share her project My Deepfake Dad. In this project\, she uses artificial intelligence\, archival materials\, interviews\, and other source material to construct a series of audio conversations and photographs featuring her deceased father. In this presentation\, she will play the second conversation in this series and discuss the project as a whole. This event is free and open to the public.
