DESCRIPTION:Join us September 26th for Behind the Barriers: An Evening of Action & Learning For Homeless Youth 6:00pm-9:00pm. This event will raise funds and awareness for The Northern Lighthouse Safe Harbor Shelter and Transitional Living Program. During the event\, guest speakers from throughout Maine will discuss reasons why youth would be in a situation of runaway or homelessness; including: human trafficking\, domestic violence\, substance abuse\, and family financial instability. Fun activities such as bonfires\, s’more bars\, food trucks\, and more! We will also have Aroostook County organizations tabling to inform participants about their services. \nEach event guest will agree to pledge $50 to support funding for The Northern Lighthouse shelters to attend. \n4.2 million young people face homelessness each year in the United States. The Northern Lighthouse welcomes youth with more than just a safe bed\, warm meal\, and clean clothes – we provide a community\, opportunity\, love\, and respect. Together\, we can help care for youth overcoming homelessness in Maine. \nBring your chairs & blankets\, and join us for an evening of awareness and fun!
