DESCRIPTION:The Youth Peer Support Statewide Network (Youth Peer Support Statewide Network | Maine Behavioral Healthcare | Maine (mainehealth.org)) is a growing resource open to any Youth (ages 14 – 26) who reside in Maine and self-identify as having struggled with Mental Health challenges. \nThe YPSSN welcomes Aroostook County Youth to participate in the free\, weekly Art Group\, at the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library! You do not have to work with one of our Peer Partners to participate in this recurring event\, it’s free\, and we provide snacks! Just show up\, bring some curiosity\, and let’s make Art! \nArt Supplies and Snacks are provided for free when in attendance at the weekly Art Group. Parental supervision is not required\, but the participants must meet the following criteria:  \n\n1. Be between the ages of 14 – 26\n2. Self-identify as having Mental Health struggles. NO DIAGNOSIS needed.\n3. Be a Maine resident. DESCRIPTION:The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U program will host a six-session professional development series titled “Communicating in the Modern Workplace: Speak. Write. Succeed.” beginning Tuesday\, March 31 and continuing through Thursday\, April 16. The series will show participants how to communicate more clearly and confidently in professional settings and cover topics such as effective written communication\, presentations\, and navigating challenging workplace conversations. Each session will take place 3-5 p.m. in UMPI’s MMG Center for Professional Development and on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host its 23rd annual University Day in mid-April\, celebrating the academic research\, scholarly work\, and community service being done by students in all disciplines. Activities kick off on Tuesday\, April 14 with poster presentations from 5:30-6:45 p.m. followed by a keynote address from Libra Distinguished Lecture Series speaker Kyle Poissonnier\, founder of Catalyst for Change (CFC) Wear\, at 7 p.m. Both activities take place in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room. The next day\, University Day continues with student presentations in Folsom/Pullen Hall on April 15 starting at 9:15 a.m. These events are free and open to the public. SUMMARY:Libra Distinguished Lecture Series Kyle Poissonnier
DESCRIPTION:The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host Kyle Poissonnier\, founder of Catalyst for Change (CFC) Wear\, as its next speaker in the Libra Distinguished Lecture Series on Tuesday\, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room and via Zoom.  Poissonnier will discuss his journey\, from growing up in Smithfield\, Maine\, to launching a hugely successful Maine-based clothing company. CFC Wear uses its clothing to raise funds for various charities and causes with a heavy emphasis on mental health and suicide prevention and awareness\, raising more than $100\,000 since 2016. This talk is free\, open to the public\, and serves as the University Day keynote address. A full day of student presentations and activities will follow on Wednesday\, April 15\, starting at 9:15 a.m.\, which the community is invited to attend.
