SUMMARY:Crown of Maine Balloon Fest
DESCRIPTION:The festival was born as part of the 2004 Isle Fest\, when local pilot Dena Winslow and pilot Bill Whelan from Ontario convinced the then Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce to give it a try. In 2006\, the name was changed to the Crown of Maine Balloon FestSince then the festival has continued to grow and has seen some of the best flying around. With many of our pilots claiming that The County is one of their favorite places to fly\, due to the beautiful landscapes and friendly folks.Now entering our 20th annual event\, the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest Volunteer committee is working on our official schedule of activities. Most events are free and take place at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds. With a family friendly focus and many opportunities for beauty\, the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest has become a favorite part of summer in The County.

SUMMARY:Maine Book Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 6th annual Maine Book Festival (formerly the Maine Authors Book Festival) on August 23\, 2025\, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Thomaston Public Library and sponsored by Maine Authors Publishing! This year’s theme is Woods and Waters\, and we’re excited to celebrate the natural beauty and outdoor heritage of Maine. \nFor all Maine Guides\, Maine Game Wardens\, Foresters\, Park Rangers\, and Outdoor Professionals\, wear your uniform and/or patches for a special prize and automatic entry into our raffle. \nThe festival will include signings by over 100 authors\, presentations\, live music by Don Roy\, an open studio with Maine artists\, and a Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife booth to answer all your wildlife questions. There will also be a children’s area with a scavenger hunt\, food for sale from Station 118\, and ice cream from Stone Fox Farm Creamery.
